Grenoble Foot 38 has officially announced the arrival of Frédéric Garny as the new coach of the reserve team. He replaces Marama Vahirua, who held the position for a short time. Garny joins from Montpellier Hérault SC, where he was the reserve team coach since 2021.
Who is Frédéric Garny?
Frédéric Garny is a 51-year-old former professional player, born in Mulhouse in 1974. He played for several clubs, including Mulhouse, Sochaux, Montpellier, Niort, Troyes, Angers, and Sète. After his playing career, he transitioned into coaching, particularly with young players.
His coaching career
Garny has held the position of reserve team coach at Montpellier Hérault SC since 2021. He has also coached the U19 team and won several titles, including the Coupe Gambardella in 2017 and the French U19 championship in 2018.
His role at Grenoble
Garny will be responsible for the Pro 2 team, which brings together the best young talents in the club. He will have to prepare them for their ascent to the professional squad and provide the GF38 reserve team in the championship.
